1984 - 89

Oct. 1984 JAPAN TELECOM was founded.
Jul. 1986 ITJ was founded.
Aug. 1986 JAPAN TELECOM launches leased circuit services.
Dec. 1986 RAILWAY TELECOMMUNICATION established.
Sep. 1987 JAPAN TELECOM launches long-distance telephone services.
Apr. 1989 ITJ launches international leased circuit services.
May 1989 RAILWAY TELECOMMUNICATION merges with JAPAN TELECOM.
Oct. 1989 ITJ launches international telephone services.

1990 - 99

Nov. 1992 JAPAN TELECOM completes nationwide digital network.
Sep. 1994 JAPAN TELECOM listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the Osaka Securities Exchange.
Sep. 1996 JAPAN TELECOM listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the Osaka Securities Exchange.
Apr. 1997 JAPAN TELECOM launches ISP service, ‘ODN’.
Oct. 1997 JAPAN TELECOM and ITJ merge.
Dec. 1998 JAPAN TELECOM announces its next-generation network project, PRISM.

2000 - to date

Apr. 2000 JAPAN TELECOM launches world's first IP-VPN service, ‘SOLTERIA’.
May 2001 JAPAN TELECOM launches local telephone services.
Aug. 2002 Company name was changed to JAPAN TELECOM HOLDINGS.
The fixed-line telecommunications business was also separated to found a new JAPAN TELECOM.
Nov. 2003 JAPAN TELECOM acquired by an affiliate of Ripplewood Holdings LLC.
Jul. 2004 JAPAN TELECOM joined SOFTBANK Corp. group.
Dec. 2004 JAPAN TELECOM launches new fixed telephone service ‘Otoku Line’.
Jan. 2005 JAPAN TELECOM Head Office moved to Shiodome Core Office.
Apr. 2005 Telecom Service and JENS merge.
Jul. 2005 JAPAN TELECOM IDC merge.
Dec. 2005 JAPAN TELECOM announces its next-generation ICT platform Service design[IRIS].
Feb. 2006 JAPAN TELECOM starts offering ICT platform Service [ULTINA On Demand Platform] Keyplat.
Apr. 2006 JAPAN TELECOM Network Information Services CO., LTD merge.
JAPAN TELECOM Network Systems CO., LTD established with joint capital investment of NETMARKS INC..
Oct. 2006 Company name changed to SOFTBANK TELECOM Corp..
Feb. 2007 SOFTBANK TELECOM SALES Corp. merges with SOFTBANK TELECOM.
Jul. 2007 Established JAPAN TELECOM INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED, a local company incorporated in New Delhi, India.
Nov. 2007 Opened ‘Guangzhou Office, SOFTBANK TELECOM Corp.,’ in China.
Jun. 2008 Started providing ‘White Line 24,’ an FMC service for corporate users.
Mar. 2009 Started ‘BB Mobile Point,’ a public wireless LAN service available in trains of the Tokaido Shinkansen.
Launched ‘White Office,’ an FMC service for corporate users.
Apr. 2009 SOFTBANK MOBILE Corp., SOFTBANK BB Corp., and SOFTBANK TELECOM Corp., unified their service brand logo.
Sep. 2009 Started supporting efficiency of process control with ‘TOOLS AGRI,’ a mobile application for supporting agriculture.
